Bute Inlet
Glacier-fed wilderness salmon fishing at its finest
The Bute Inlet Experience
Bute Inlet is one of British Columbia's most spectacular salmon fishing destinations. This glacier-carved fjord stretches deep into the Coast Mountains, offering world-class Chinook fishing surrounded by breathtaking wilderness scenery.
The trip from Campbell River takes you through pristine waters where snowcapped peaks rise above turquoise glacial waters. It's not just a fishing trip—it's an adventure into one of BC's most remote and beautiful marine environments.
Why Fish Bute Inlet?
Fish for Chinook when local waters have restrictions
Known for producing large Chinook salmon, including Tyee (30+ lbs)
Glacial waters, waterfalls, and abundant wildlife including eagles and bears
Remote location means fewer boats and more fish
Target Species
Chinook (King)
Primary target. Trophy fish 30-50+ lbs possible.
Coho (Silver)
Aggressive fighters, 8-15 lbs average.
Lingcod
Available while targeting salmon.
Pink Salmon
Abundant in odd-numbered years.
Best Season
May through September offers prime fishing. The inlet is especially popular in spring (May-June) when local Chinook retention is closed. Summer months bring excellent Coho runs alongside continued Chinook action.
